I've been watching LotR while working, and have come to a sad conclusion: those movies take themselves way way too seriously. Also, Frodo is the most emo hero ever. That said, I still love 'em.
Anyway, a hodge-podge of arts for you today. First up and most recent, two layouts I'm working on in VisDev. They are two different viewpoints of a beaver dam that's blocking the river upstream from Jethro's fields. But Spanky the beaver is very satisfied with his work. As I spent a good portion of my break hauling canoes over endless beaver dams, I felt rather prepared for this project.
and a quick one week painting that is based on George R.R. Martin's short story "Bitterblooms." It has showed me that I need to work more on my speedpainting...
Well here I thought I'd have time to make all my images neat and pretty for you guys, organize them into classes and all before the new term started. Aaaaand term has already started. Whoops. Soooo, here's a bunch of presentable stuff from summer term. Enjoy it!
First some characters from Inventive Character. I did Snow White set in ancient Egypt. You'll notice that Snow White herself is actually missing from this set, but that's because I redid the design and haven't finished it yet.. but first, the Evil Queen:
and for something completely different - one of my personal paintings from Advanced Sketching. And yes, I was thinking of Where the Wild Things Are.
but that doesn't mean the class is silly.
assorted sketches and finals. bummed that I didn't have my camera with me at the final presentation cause there were some excellent showings. i made up for it with tacos.
Quick update - posted new and improved portfolio. *schwing* http://astods.carbonmade.com/
Alright alright, remember that time I said I'd update? Well I updated the stuff from last term that I liked, then.. um.. yah forgot about the other stuff. Cause I didn't really like it. But maybe if I post it, smart people can tell me *why* I don't like it, and then I can make it better.
That's the idea anyway.
So, my final digital landscape paintings, minus a few that really are quite awful;
Well I'm on the move, as I like to do when I'm not tied down to school. I find a nice balance in spending my breaks going/doing where i want to go/do when i want to go/do them. In other words, I blow town and stay away as long as possible, living out of a backpack and far away from LA. This time I'm haunting northern Arizona and southern Utah for while, with inclinations towards San Francisco later on. I'll slowly update from the term as I go. today's lucky visitors get the final installment of the Peter Pan key scenes and the title banner from the final board. The key scene is my version of the point in the story when Pan is mimicking the tiger (crocodile) to frighten Hook.
